| Okay, so I'm watching the 2003/2004 Mtv reality show Rich Girls and I was reminded of a couple of posts I made on here about a year ago pertaining to Ally and Jaime. (You can see the posts here and here. I recommend them, they're hilarious.) For those of you who don't know Ally went into rehab after the show finished filming. It was said that she had quite the cocaine addiction and maybe an eating disorder. She's done some painting and crap too which you can read about on her Wiki. So I am watching the episodes like I said and I thought about Ally and what she's doing now so I Googled her and found some pictures from November 21, 2009.   So from these pictures and her current company I'm going to assume that ol' Ally has fallen off the wagon. So sad. Though I hope she finally learned how to make a burrito. picture source.  Just in case anyone was wondering, Star Magazine has a very similar story compared to the National Enquirer, about Tiger Woods cheating on his wife with this New York events planner Rachel Uchitel story, about how she allegedly had an affair with Bones star David Boreanaz when David’s wife Jaime was pregnant. The original story had “sources” who claimed that David and Rachel were seeing each other this past Spring, into the summer, and that Rachel was the one to break it off when David called her as his wife was giving birth. Creepy, yes? Star is now claiming that Jaime knows about the affair David had with Rachel, and that Jaime was considering divorce but she’s decided to forgive him: "David Boreanaz’s Playboy Playmate wife, Jaime Bergman, is giving him a second chance. Hasselhoff's neighbor Christian (he asked that we not use his last name), told RadarOnline.com that he saw the ambulance arrive at Hasselhoff's home. "I asked one of the paramedics how David was doing and he told me his eyes were rolling back into his head, he was drooling and that he'd had a seizure."  Tiger Woods did not suffer facial lacerations from a car accident. They were inflicted by his wife, Elin Nordegren -- according to a conversation Woods had Friday after the accident. Tiger has yet to be formally interviewed by the Florida Highway Patrol -- that should happen this afternoon. But we're told Tiger had a conversation Friday -- with a non-law enforcement type -- detailing what went down before his Escalade hit a fire hydrant. We're told he said his wife had confronted him about reports that he was seeing another woman. The argument got heated and, according to our source, she scratched his face up. We're told it was then Woods beat a hasty retreat for his SUV -- but according to our source, Woods says his wife followed behind with a golf club. As Tiger drove away, she struck the vehicle several times with the club. Tiger WoodsWe're told Woods became "distracted," thought the vehicle was stopped, and looked to see what had happened. At that point the SUV hit the fire hydrant and then hit a tree. Not that I think she has a journal, just that it would be really strange if he wanted me to add her. Henry sent me the Godspeed You! Black Emperor I wanted. Their first "real" album, F♯A♯∞. Nowhere in the valley has it—literally, nowhere. I looked everywhere. He owns it, though, and he put it online for me. So thank you to Henry. I'm listening to Dead Flag Blues right now, and, well. . . . it's not exactly music, per se (speaking versus singing, plus train whistle), but they're still one of my favorite groups. East Hastings ♥ To give you some idea of what I'm talking about, here's a cut-down version of the Dead Flag Blues: I wrote this and this while listening to it. It's . . . hm. I don't really know how to put it. It's very rare that any piece of music affects me very strongly, especially not things that are mostly instrumental (as this is)—but it does affect me, every time I listen to it. Not just this piece, either—the entire album. "East Hastings" I associate with 28 Days Later (as will anyone else that's seen the film—you'll know what I'm talking about if you listen to it), but it's more than that. | ||

Anime is a funny beast. That sounds like an overgeneralization, of course -- after all, there's a ton out there, in many different genres. But what I've been noticing lately is how many anime series seem to be aimed at audiences we in North America don't even have. Take Haré + Guu, for instance. Brilliant show, if slightly kiddy; every time I watch it I think about how well it would fit in the after-school animation block. But then I realize you can only say that about 80% of the show -- the rest has stuff that wouldn't be appropriate. What do you do with Weda, Haré's scantily-clad boozer of a mom? Or Bell, the devoted maidservant who gets violent nosebleeds over her mistress's "purity"? Hell, the fifth episode is all about determining who fathered Haré out of wedlock. This isn't unusual. For every show like Ai Yori Aoshi, where the adult stuff fits fine because the show pitches itself to late teens anyway, there's one like Rosario + Vampire which combines simple kid-friendly concepts and plot structures... with panty shot festivals and incessant breast-size jokes. (I do have examples without plus signs in their titles, by the way.) I enjoy lots of those shows, but they also make me feel vaguely uncomfortable, like I'm watching someone make dirty jokes with my little brother in the room. There's a word for what I'm talking about: surrounded. No, wait. The word is seinen. It's supposed to mean targeted at males in the 18-30 range, but in my experience, it's more often what I've described above -- material that would be fine for kids from about 12 up, were it not for the gratuitous stuff mixed in. Like most genres, it's fuzzy; I'm not sure why Ai Yori Aoshi is seinen and not shoujo, for instance (though it makes me less embarrassed for enjoying it). Aoi may appeal to some men's fantasies of the perfect girlfriend, but her appeal to girls as an old-fashioned romantic heroine is even stronger. My point, though, is that the seinen audience seems to be one that only Japan aims for. Kids' and even teen shows don't have breast jokes and panty shots here, unless I'm way out of touch. It's just something I've been thinking about. Which brings me That show is great. Seriously, it's way too much fun -- can't recommend it enough. I'm 40 episodes in out of 51 total. And what I find myself wondering, for a somewhat different reason, is what audience this show is aiming for. ( Very mild spoilers up to episode 40 and speculation thereafter. ) (By the way, I know I'm late to the party. Soul Eater finished airing back in March. Slumdog Millionaire director Danny Boyle is reportedly reteaming with author Irvine Welsh to take the writer's novel Porno to the big screen - 13 years after Trainspotting made the moviemaker and McGregor household names. McGregor snubbed the picture earlier this year, insisting he didn't want to be part of a "poor sequel", and, as a result filming, has stalled. And that has annoyed Andrew Lowry, who played Begbie in the 1996 movie - because he's keen to resurrect his character. He says, "I've always said that I'd do it. Apart from long-running television, I've never played another character twice, but, with Begbie, there's mileage there, with this character there's another place to go. It can confirm what I was trying to do originally with the part, so I would certainly go again. "It's entirely up to Ewan, but I think it's sad. Even though New Moon has made a bazillion dollars and even though the third Twilight book, Eclipse, is already filming, Summit has declined to announce the fourth and final Twilight book as a movie. |  Gossip Girl star Blake Lively had to fight for her role in new Ben Affleck movie The Town - because casting directors were convinced she was too young for the part. The actress, 22, was turned away when she first expressed interest in playing mother-of-one Krista Coughlin in the upcoming crime drama. But she refused to give up hope and jumped on a train to Boston, Massachusetts to seek out Affleck, who stars in and directs the film, to audition for him personally. Her tactics worked - and scriptwriters were forced to rework the screenplay to suit Lively. She tells Us Weekly magazine, "My part was supposed to be a 37 year old. I was like, 'I have to play this.' | Air dates and times confirmed for the final two Doctor Who specials: David Tennant's final two episodes of Doctor Who will air on Christmas Day and New Year's Day, the BBC has confirmed. Provisional schedules for the Christmas period will see 'The End Of Time, Part One' air from 7.30pm to 8.30pm on BBC One on Christmas Day, sandwiched between episodes of EastEnders. Parachuted into Crete and Italy, both times under fire, he fought at Monte Casino and was twice mentioned in dispatches. A fellow soldier once told me, "When your father marches on to the parade ground, the birds in the trees stop singing." In civilian life it was a different story. He was an angry, unhappy and frustrated man who was not able to control his emotions or his hands. As a child I witnessed his repeated violence against my mother, and the terror and misery he caused was such that, if I felt I could have succeeded, I would have killed him. |  Just when we thought only the “Real Housewives of Atlanta” were full of posers and foolery, “The Real Housewives of D.C.” is off to the same start! At the White House’s first State Dinner last week, two people popped up in the mix–taking pics in front of the media and with extrememly powerful politicians–and they were NOT invited. How’d they get in? Secret Service is still trying to determine. But they are now facing charges because they were not on the guest list nor seated at a table. The couple in question, Tareq and Michaele Salahi, are actually casted for the newest installment of “The Real Housewives of D.C.” And they decided to CRASH the state dinner like it was some club or some ish. D.C. and the White House is going nuts trying to figure out how some random people got so close tot he President and the Prime Minister of India (the honoree) and the other politicians like Governors, mayors, and VP Biden. The Salahi’s actually posted ALL the pics they took with these politicians at the party on their Facebook page, and that’s how they got caught. Smh. This is reportedly not the first time this couple has crashed a very high powered and tight security party. It’s also well known that Tareq’s family business 9a winery) has been facing several financial problems. The couple’s friends have even told the media they believe the Salahi’s are embezzling money from their own “charity organizations” they founded just to keep their business afloat. Michaele’s hairdresser says they got a call hours before the event and when they asked homegirl to see the “White House State Dinner” invitation she kept talking about, she refused to show it. Womp. A film crew was also spotted filming the couple getting out of their SUV and walking up to the White House. And Mrs. Salahi had a makeup artist fluff her up before getting out the car. Unfortunately, Secret Service is placing blame on Desiree Rogers, the White House’s first black Social Secretary. They say it’s the Social Office’s responsibility to guard who’s in and who’s out list-wise. And despite reports saying the couple never got close to President Obama, the Huffington Post just reported today that is untrue. the couple indeed met with Obama at the event. So now this is a major security threat. While Bravo has not OFFICIALLY confirmed their D.C. cast just yet, it’s pretty well known, their “lawyer and publicist” (yes, they already have one) have put out this statement: “At this time the Salahis’ will not make any formal comments regarding the rumors and media speculation surrounding the White House State Dinner (Tuesday November 24). She says, "I wasn't allowed to take that corset off! I had to rely on yoga exercises! Don't get me wrong, I'm such a girly girl, I was in heaven being dressed in these incredible costumes. | Yesterday for Thanksgiving I made a chocolate silk pie with meringue topping and chocolate cookie crust. To burn the meringue I used this bad boy: I named it Torchie. Frank cooks turkey and stuffing every year and every year it is divine because he gets all sciencey with it. I made the aforementioned pie and garlic mashed potatoes. We had 10 people over and they all brought a dish to share so there wasn't too much pressure on us to host AND cook for 12. My friend Adrienne also brought us this beautiful floral arrangement:  I have it sitting by the entryway now. I like putting flowers there. BLAH BLAH BLAH | ||

|  Roger Avary, the screenwriter who shares the Oscar with Quentin Tarantino for "Pulp Fiction" and who wrote Beowulf and directed Killing Zoe, was busted by the LA Times for pretending to tweet from jail. He killed a friend, Andreas Zini, and injured his own wife, Gretchen, last January while driving drunk. Avary pleaded guilty to manslaughter. His wife recovered from her injuries. Avary was given a sentence of one year and five months and then was allowed to serve that sentence in a work furlough program. He was serving his sentence in a converted Air Force hangar while tweeting about his horrifying experiences. During the day Avary was allowed to leave the hangar to "work" and would return to furlough facility for nights and weekends. Mark Milian from the LA Times became suspicious about how this was actually happening. His tweets, forwarded by Neil Gaiman and Roger Ebert as gritty slices of life of an artist in prison, seemed to show a grim picture of repression of the inside of a jailhouse. The trouble is that he actually wasn't in jail until very recently. The LA Time revealed the truth about the work furlough program and Avary has been "rolled up" (transferred from work furlough to the Ventura County Jail) as of yesterday. The police will not comment as to why this was done specifically, but it isn't hard to suppose that it has something to do with Twitter. His last tweet was a whining note about him being punished for exercising his 1st Amendment rights.
