Dear LJ:
It has been thirteen days since we ordered the new glasses and they are still nowhere in sight. My temper grows short, and I wish to cut the persons who keep assuring me it will be "any day now."

In the meantime, in the course of traumatizing [info]the_epic with the fuckery that is Katy Perry's wardrobe, I stumbled across something even more frightening than a merry go round dress.

The answer to that, my friends, is leggings and uggs for men.

If you do not fully understand the ramifications of this, please let me draw your attention to the horror that is denim stirrup pants.

What is the next evolution in this process? A cursory search of the Google shows that there are in fact men's stirrup pants, but they seem to be primarily gymnastic and sport related. Let us hope that it remains that way.
Dec. 2nd, 2008 @ 02:49 am the heat my god the heat
stop following me
My house is too fucking hot.

Unfortunately the apartment I chose is the one that controls the heat for the entire building. Our heat is supposed to be set between 68-70, because that way it disperses. I'm used to it being 60-65, but this is NOT a two or three degree difference. I can't even open the windows since I live on the first floor and the landlord would have a fit if they saw the windows were open.

I can't sleep because of it (that and the glass of dr pepper I didn't finish til midnight). I am so fucking warm in my house, I can't take it anymore. When I drop off rent on Friday I am going to ask her what the hell I can do to fix this shit, I am MELTING.

-Watch this week's film
-Do the work for both Thursday Classes
-Work Wednesday Night / Thursday afternoon
-Attend Thursday classes.

If I successfully do all this and not collapse on Friday, I will reward myself with a day off. A real day off from work/school. I'll fix compy, clean my room, kidnap the dresser from the spare room, and clean the apartment. Along with mail out the rebate, rent, cell phone payment, and various sundries to Canada. And booze. Will go to SP Liquors and get something fun.

Audience participation time: What kind of booze do you prefer? I usually get Bailey's or peppermint schnapps. I'd like to expand my repertoire, but I don't like much rum.

SO in the past umm...let's go with 36 hours, I have been in three different states. Which was fun times had by all. I also learned a very important thing about Greyhound bus tickets, which makes me very happy.

But let me start at the beginning, where all good stories should.

i'm pretty sure this will either be really long or i'll abridge it REALLY well. )

I am bogged down on page seven of ten.

I need to finish this up, but the books are due back at 10:54. I have until 12:30 to finish this paper. I'd like to finish it ideally by noon so I can get the books I need for tomorrow's paper. I'm certain I can, I just need to focus, and not having slept at all is not helping.

I don't have caffeine on an empty stomach, I got smart this time around -- I got a bagel at Dreidel's before I came to the library. It's absolutely quiet in my part of the library and I love it. Unfortunately it doesn't help the focus part. I'm honestly pretty sure I have ADD or some form of it, but I'll never get diagnosed, cause I don't want to.

I have to work at 1pm today. this will be fun. after that I'm gonna crash for a couple hours and then write the other paper. Then I have to go hand that one in, and then I get to go to work AGAIN. This time at 2 though, so it gives me a bit more breathing space. Thank insert deity of choice here.

I've been revising through my essay as I go, and I'm actually surprised at how well it's coming out. The final paper is supposed to be "Topic of your choosing based on books and themes raised in the course." I chose to do the problems with oral history with the last two books we read for this course, and I think it will pull together fairly well. So glad I took that radio class last semester -- it taught me some stuff about oral history. And ever ever ever so glad for that anthropology minor -- it also comes in handy here.

I'll deal with all the 800 comment replies I have stored up probably Monday :)

I sold my third book on half.com yesterday. What the fuck, isn't the semester over? ;) I'll mail the two out on Saturday before I leave for Potsdam. Which reminds me, I should email Courtney and see what she's up to on Saturday.

1) I love NYS. I thought I was gonna owe them monies. Instead, a check arrived for 314$ today. Yay Refund! I got over 600 bucks back from taxes!

2) Work is so frakking overtiring.

3) I have a giant bruise on my left arm that reduces the amount of things I can do with said arm cause it hurts. Made of failure.

4) I am going to be up most of the evening writing a paper. Once it's done I'm going to email it to the professor then go to sleep. I have to work at 1300 tomorrow, so as long as I'm up by 11:30, it's all good.

So here's a bad customer story.

Tonight it slowed down after a while and this woman comes up to the counter with a skirt, chattering on her cell phone. I attempt to offer her the credit card and all that but give up cause she is too busy talking to notice me. So I ring up the skirt, and tell her the total, 20.58. She hands me her credit card, and I run it. Then she says, "that's supposed to be half off."

Me: *mental facepalm* I called my manager up and she went to look for it, to see if it was actually 50% off. It was, so I had to redo the whole transaction. Ugh. She stayed on her cell phone the entire fucking time. My gods, is your call THAT important that you can't even take two minutes out of your day to I dunno, speak to your cashier and make sure things are ok? Ugh.

That's ok, I still have a State & Co Check waiting for me at work. I think, right? Should be. I HOPE SO. Anyway.

TODO List:

-Pick out / register for classes (remove holds if need be)
-Pick up James, Destroyer of Worlds. ([info]tbone, I thought about your concerns, but I couldn't possibly name my new pal anything less.)
-Drop off liberry books (same trip, methinks)
-Check work schedule/get check.
-Start [info]rocza's Jeep. No, [info]rocza, I will not be taking it anywhere. Don't worry.
-Read my newspaper (ALL SPITZER ALL THE TIME WHAT)
-Clean more of the apartment
-Another load of laundry

So uh, yeah...I'm a busy girl today.

Argh, export faster, Audacity! It's been exporting since 0837, and it says it will be done in half an hour. Which will put me at 10am, and then we still have to leave for Amtrak by 11. But I still need to burn to a disk and take it to campus. YIKES.

Godsdammit, one of these days I'll learn not to procrastinate.

I also did a bad thing and picked a fight in [info]statements. But srsly, I don't think I was wrong.

Anyway, time to go wake up roommate and make sure she gets up now so she can go to Target while my thing exports itself.

Ok, I am doing well...

I finished two of the four essaies. I'm not going to worry about the rest til I get back from NYC.

The radio project is the next thing to tackle. That won't be difficult either, I don't think. That's gotta be in by noon, and we're leaving for NYC by 11.

Let's see. I went out to the grocery store and acquired foodstuffs, spending only 7 bucks for four meals. I RULE. Most of that, my friends, was a big bag of all natural tortilla chips made of blue corn. I'm even dressed like a hippie today. Except for my University of New Caprica shirt...that just ups my nerd points. *is awesome*

Anyway, kidlets, after talking with [info]wavesandmoon earlier I finally realized what I would want to do a website on -- ship disasters. I love this stuff and always have. So I think I want to do a site devoted to shipwrecks, kinda like NewfoundlandShipwrecks. I don't think it could possibly be comprehensive; I'd probably work with the most interesting ones at first. Or the Fitzgerald and The Marion Rogers, cause I have sources for those...

Ok, enough speculating, more working!

No, AJ, reloading your flist and AKA are not conducive to writing those 8 pages that you wanted to get done by five pm, nor are they conducive to you compiling the radio project by midnight so you can get up at 7am to deliver it before you leave for New York, so let's focus now, thanks.

Also, I think I really do need to invent an AJ to English translator. Why did no one tell me I phrase things weirdly before?

I'm working on my radio script right now. It's on the Edmund Fitzgerald and the Marion Rogers. If any of you Newfoundlanders have any stories or know anyone who has any stories relating to the Marion Rogers (she sank in 1938, FYI), please feel free to either record them for me (mp3 format preferred!) or write something out for me? I'd love you guys eternally.

Anyway, there's that, there's the four three page papers that relaly won't take any time at all to do if i SIT DOWN AND DO THEM, and then of course packing and leaving at o'dark stupid tomorrow.

Somehow I don't see sleep on the agenda again :)

I overdosed on caffeine today, that was fun.

I am sleeping for about an hour, then I'll finish that damned script, then possibly a couple other papers and email them off.

[info]rocza's hanging out here for now, but I'm being a bad hostess and taking a nap. Sorry :)

I drank two giant glasses of water and have resolved not to touch another can of coke or caffeinelaced beverage for a while. We'll see how long that lasts.

As you can tell from the timestamp I am wide awake at an ungodsly hour.

I'm currently working on finishing this 20-25pp paper on Kateri Tekakwitha. Right now I have four written and well-edited pages, and 13 rough pages to integrate, as well as a whole table full of sources I've yet to tap, and the jstor articles on hold ready to be introduced. This will be a fantastic paper, but it's due at 1400h. The obstacle in my way now is my shift at 1000h. I'm going to call work at 0700 and see if I can't come in later, and if not I'll just call in, which will suck.

Then after that, I'll work on the 4 papers for Dr Roberts, and then the script for Mlle Julie to read. Yay. That I'll be assembling that night. Which reminds me, Dave! Can you re-record the poem for me? A little louder, a little closer to the mic. And any other male readers with access to a microphone that might be willing to read some testimonials or something for my ship disaster radio project?

[info]lightfromlight gave me a panic button for my keyboard. I'm pushing it, but nothing's happening.
